From the Pastor
Welcome to The Lutheran Church of the Ascension
The Lutheran Church of the Ascension is a parish of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Here, we understand our history to be firmly located in the robust history of the Christian Church. To that end, each and every week, we draw upon two millennia of liturgical tradition, while ever remaining open to the next best thing. Our dedication to the past and our hope for the future both help to signify our catholicity as Lutherans.
Located in the heart of Buckhead, the center of our life together is the Holy Eucharist (Holy Mass), held at 10 am on Sunday mornings. The Holy Eucharist is preceded on Sunday mornings at 9 am by an hour of Adult Catechesis with Sunday School for our children.
Through the beauty of the liturgy and the sublime gift of the Holy Eucharist, the goal at Ascension is to create a community where every person knows that they are not alone and not unloved, precisely because Jesus goes before them, behind them, beside them, and lives through them. In short, our goal is to create and sustain a relationship – with Jesus and with each other – and thereby bring all God’s children home again to Eden someday.
If you would like to pursue this life further, please email or call or join us on a Sunday morning. We would be delighted to have you as our guest!
As ever, in Christ,
The Reverend Joshua D. Genig Pastor, The Lutheran Church of the Ascension
